2008 District 23-5A Championships

At
the UIL District 23-5A Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 24th at
Missouri City Community Park the Travis High School varsity boys team won the
school’s first district championship.
The win comes in the school’s first year with a graduating class and
complete roster of varsity teams.
Building
on last year’s 2nd place finish in the district championships, the all Travis
varsity boys posted season best performances, lead by Spencer Buxton, who
repeated as individual district champion, with a winning time of 16:03.
Next to finish were David Koistinen in 2nd and Abel Simie in 3rd from
Kempner, and Omar Raad in 4th from Austin.
Then
the Travis freight train came rolling
in, lead by Michael Lane, finishing 5th in 17:17, Chris McCarthy in 6th in
17:19, Kyle Clawson in 7th in 17:21 and Ted Docherty in 8th in 17:23 – putting
all 5 scoring runners from Travis in the top 8 places.
The remaining team members, Steven Gonzales and Conner Lau, placed in the
top half of the field.
