2007 TLU Bulldog Invitational

Conditions:  Sunny, 68 °F, 73% RH, wind S at 5 mph.

After a season of heat and humidity, beautiful racing conditions greeted runners on the campus of Texas Lutheran University campus for the 2^nd Annual TLU Bulldog Invitational.  The varsity girls went first with 157 girls circling the university grounds.  A fine race developed up front where a trio of home school students battled for the lead; Cate Westenover, Austin Home School Royals, and the Dunn twins, Janessa and Emily of FEAST Home School, pulled away from the pack and led through the mile.  Westenhover, continuing her fine season (8^th at Nike South, and 2^nd at Georgetown last week) went on to a fast 11:18 finish with Janessa next at 11:36 and Emily third in 11:47.  In a nip and tuck team race, SA Reagan showed fine pre district form by narrowly out pointing FEAST 45 – 50, despite FEAST’s faster team average time, 12:08 – 12:14.

In the 19 team boys race Paul Snyder, SA Churchill, sped to an early lead and grabbed gold with a 32 second victory.  FEAST’s Howard Gill had another workman’s effort for silver and then came the deep Del Rio squad (ranked #7 TX Coaches) with five in the top 11 to seize first with 34.  SA Churchill ran well for second (94), and FEAST, running without its number two, was a very close third (96).
